Bio
Melanie Janelle Murchison has a Ph.D. in Law from Queen’s University Belfast and is an Instructor II at the University of Manitoba and a Visiting Professor at Maynooth University. Her most recent research has been on the effects of the #metoo movement on sexual offences in Canada. Her work can be found in several peer reviewed journals and edited collections including in the Manitoba Law Journal, the Canadian Journal of Comparative and Contemporary Law, Criminal Law Quarterly and the Canadian Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Research Interests
Dr. Murchison’s primary research and teaching interests are on the effects of mentorship on education and criminal activity, gender-based violence, legal pedagogy, victimization, Canadian criminal and constitutional law, and sexual offences.
