Research Connection Day
Our hope is for the day’s activities to foster new connections for future research projects, partnerships and/or grants.
We will start the day by sharing our findings from a recent scan of youth mentoring research from across Canada, have a networking lunch to build community, and host facilitated small group discussions pertaining to current themes identified in the literature, and future directions/opportunities for mentoring research and practice.
Themes
The current identified themes are as follows:
-

Mentoring Indigenous Youth

-

Mentoring for Black Youth

-

Mentoring for Youth in Sports

-

School-Based Mentoring

-

Youth-Initiated Mentoring

-

Mentoring Newcomer Youth

-

Mentoring for Youth with Disabilities

-

Development and Evaluation of Mentorship Programs

We will be using these theme-based small group discussions to identify areas for collaboration, and development of future team projects with a real possibility of shaping Canadian mentoring research and practice for the next 5-10 years.
