Toupey Luft

Bio
Dr. Toupey Luft (PhD, R.Psych) is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, Department of Counsellor Education, at the University of Lethbridge. Dr. Luft became interested in how mentoring can support the needs of adolescent youth, specifically girls and young women, in graduate school. Her doctoral work on how adult women influence the psychological development of girls earned her a SSHRC national doctoral fellowship for her research. After pursuing clinically focused psychologist roles in youth mental health and private practice, she was inspired to return to academia to take a wider view and be more involved with research and training clinicians. She is currently working on projects examining the mental health needs of newcomers to Canada, as well as how mentorship plays a role in the clinical supervision of helping professionals.
